Liquid refreshment

I use the camelback when fishing. I love it. I do not even want to think about the things I drank out of in Nam!!

I remember in the Army we carried black water cans on the tanks. They looked like the green gas cans but black plastic. Came in handy on time when a guy got heat stroke. Dumped two or three of them on him.

Dusty since we are going back on the bags on the front of your car. I remember setting at a roadside park (remember them) waiting until late after noon to cross death valley since it was 114 in the shade and the cars would over heat and instead if air cond you had a swamp cooler for the window. YOu pulled the cord and got the coil wet and then air blew through that into the car. Now that goes back. LOL those were the days as they say.

Oh man I really didn't need to remember the canvas bag on the radiator. The last time I saw one of those was when I sold off all my Dads stuff. People wouldn't believe me when they asked what it was for. Jim

Hey, I still have a couple of those. One hung from the hood ornament of the 1952 Ford wagon while running all over TX, NM, AZ and So CA in the summer of 1959.
Someone mentioned those car window swamp coolers. A buddy told of an uncle using one and his wife filled it using an empty milk carton that had milk go sour in it and she didn't rinse it out. I understand that it was not pleasant when the car got hot inside and they pulled the cord the first time.

Sorry, I didn't mean to remind you "found" water in the discussion. Water from those " water buffalo" rubber things was nasty, but what you found "in the bush" and put halazon and/or Iodine in was nearly intolerable. Care packages for many of us always had lots of Wylers instant lemonaid or Liptons Instant Ice tea mix. That way all that nasty found water with halazon and iodine tablets in it could be made to taste like lemonaid or tea with halazon and iodine in it.!!!:eek: There were some days when one of those old water bags would have been pretty sweet indeed.
