Follow-up, it is also possible that if your machine hums, but does not start, there is nothing wrong with the switch, but if your motor has an internal centrifugal motor start switch, opposed to a motor start relay, dirt or grime of some sort is in play. I suspect a motor start relay could have failed as well, but it is far less common.
A possibility exists that sawdust has gotten into the contacts of the motor's internal centrifugal switch, or somehow is inhibiting the springs from returning to their normally closed position, which re-sets up the motor start circuit, which drops out once motor is spinning on power on.
