p.s. Can you elaborate on why the spring was difficult to reinstall? It should have been a snap....at least it was on mine.
Mickyd,
Please do tell how you made reinstallation of the clutch spring a SNAP?? It was a royal pain in the you know what to get back on for me as well as that spring is quite strong. I had to use the vice and some other assorted tools to compress it and then install the snap ring. If I was being thick headed and you have a better technique I am all ears my friend???? I believe I will take my clutch pack apart tonight as I only took the spring out before and not the whole assy.

The SNAP comes with the seating of that last ring. That is when you know you are finally back together.

I think you're right about changing the bearings, I'll get on that. And the spring assembly was a "Snap" after quite a bit of pressure, and a makeshift clamping process. Tonight I'll pull out the clutch and clean it, hopefully with that and some new bearings, and a gilmer belt, I will be set. Thanks for all the advice!

If it were my machine it would get all new bearings for everything
Has anyone compiled a list of all the bearings that are in an SS? Preferrably with either the dimensional specs or a common brand? I'm thinking this would be a very useful PDF to post.
