Yes Tim he could. I quoted his original message in post #4 before he changed it. He's pretty crafty that Dusty. You know he has a crafter's station.

FWIW, a quote 'captures' the original post as posted.
Any post may be edited by the poster at any time(even months/years later).

You just can't take anything at face value these days. You can't even believe what you see with your own eyes.
But, I call your attention to the footnote in the lower left hand corner of this screen (post). This page was edited.

In theory, I will have internet access from the the job site and the accommodation camp. The last deep Africa job I was on supplied us with net access but blocked all the "undesirable" sites like porn, movie downloads etc. Unfortunately, they also blocked all "hobby" sites after a few months.
We'll have to wait & see after I get there. If I can, I'll definitely be visiting here frequently and will drop a post here to let you all know that I'm still in touch even if I'm not active.

Actually, I would rather that the site be able to somehow highlight the changes that are made whenever a post is edited.
When you edit a post, there is an area where the author is requested to state why the edit is occurring. To the best of my knowledge, that is for naught. The edit occurs whether a response is given or not.
What is interesting is that you can go back into a post to perform and edit but if you do not change anything there will be no indication of an edit. I think this means the software knows whether or not a change was made. These last two sentences are a postscript to this original post. Note the foot note!

edit 4-29-2010 11:55 am....The quote text above was NOT what the author actually typed. I modified the quoted text to show that you can not always trust what is in quoted text since a person posting can edit that text. The following QUOTE in jpg's post in another example of an altered quote.

Last two 'posts' illustrate the ability of ANYTHING modifying a 'quote'! Quite handy when replying to contents of the quoted.
However when 'ABUSED' as the previous two examples clearly illustrate. can lead not only to confusion by subsequent readers, but flaring tempers if the 'misquoted' takes offense. They can also lead to mirth if the parties involved have a reasonably accurate 'opinion' of themselves(humility/humor helps).
P.S. I have only 'committed' a misquote once (this post is the first and ONLY time I have done so). I always add [ . . . ] if I quote with omissions.
