Maybe we have different definitions of flimsy. Genuine Rockwell Jawhorses. Don't remember which model or models.

The adjustable clamping jaw moves around in its track a good quarter inch, and rises that much when pulled on, even clamped. Makes it very easy to pop a work piece out by pushing down on the front overhang, levering it out of the jaws.

The rear leg of the tripod has all the stability of a flimsy piece of square conduit. Which is exactly what it is. It flexes easily, letting the rear of the whole Jawhorse sway nicely.

The front legs are better, but due to their mounting, they rock nicely in their mounts fore and aft.

Combine this with the flexy rear leg and you can really deflect the Jawhorse. By quite a bit. I could get a good inch without causing the feet to slide. Tried kicking the feet out harder for more stability, but it just didn't seem to gain anything.

Like I said, my old B&D Workmate is far more stable. I'd like to like the Jawhorse. I really would. I'd have bought one or two if I did. But I was not impressed. Not at all.
