Mark 7 / Mark 5 compatabilty question...

I don't know whether this adds to or takes away from my confusion about model numbers but this old catalog shot appears to be a Mark 5 Model 500. Now it does not say 500 anywhere but I think that is what is pictured. Notice the Magna logo?

FWIW, That is a Mark 5 manual of 196x vintage that was produced by Magna-America(a successor of Magna Engineering and Yuba Tool Co.) In addition to the Shopsmith, they produced a 'Magna" line of tools(SPT) that included not only the Ras(Sawsmith), but roto-tillers(both gas powered and electric).

The PDF below is a timeline of production as I understand it.

The 500 model designation became necessary only to distinguish the original SS Inc. Mark V from later(larger table) versions.

The second Mark VII does not have anything on the door.
The Frankensmith (Mark V headstock & carriage) Does not have the door at all (missing).
The plate under the switch is the same on the second one (Mark 7) and of course the Frankensmith doesn't have that plate.
It just occurred to me that I did not look to see if the second one had the raised "Mark VII" on the lower front of the headstock casting. I suspect that it does. I think I also still have the original Mark VII casting off of the Frankensmith. I'll try to remember to look tomorrow. It is about time to feed horses now then me.

Thank you, farmer. Now I know what the name plates would look like if I ever came upon a Mark VII.

A few profile shots would also be nice. This would allow me to recognize it to be a Mark 7 if I drove by some garage sale that had one they might sell me.

I can't get to mine very well right now but here is a page with a good set of pictures of a Mark VII. (note that it is on a furniture dolly. It does not have wheels in the center.
