The really big upgrade of version 8 (as far as woodworking is concerned) is in the professional version. It's the inclusion of solid tools. The best example of this would be in making dovetails in a drawing.
In the old version to had to drawn both sides of the joint (there were some short cuts that made it easier, but you still had to do it).
In version 8, you just draw the tails and them let the program know it should knock out the corresponding voids in the pin board.
It really speeds up drawing joinery and in complex pieces where you are designing intricate joints in legs or posts and need to understand how all those joints are going to line-up and interact, it's a pretty valuable tool.
