OH, yeah, the motor when it is spun up to Saw/Joint speed slows down every time I run wood into it. I have to do it in increments of about a 1/2 inch. Is this normal?

What attachment tips ya looking for?

By the pusher, do ya mean the miter gage?

Nope that's not normal. What kind of wood ya trying to cut? Is your blade sharp? Ya trying to feed to fast?

from my experience

If I were you, before I tried to make another single cut, I would watch the Sawdust Sessions covering maintenance and repair. Then give this thing a good cleaning, inside and out. The get the information to get everything aligned and tight. You are kinda putting the cart before the horse by trying to start all your projects without really knowing much about your machine, how it is designed to operate, how to set it up for the various operations and the troubleshoot any problems you have.

I know the urge to build but you will really enjoy that tool much more if you slow down, accept the learning curve and let the great bunch of genuine experts in this forum shorten that curve. And, yes, at times we get caught up in the lingo of SS and will throw out verbage that doesn't have clear meaning to you. Most of the post that you didn't seem to understand was about using the SS as a woodturning lathe, i.e. Morse taper, tailstock, etc.

Take time to write a brief intro about yourself, your level of experience and what you want to do, and these guys will jump thru hoops to help you achieve it.

BTW, welcome to the forum!!

Thanks, I am considering trying to do a strip and cleaning, possibly a rebuild of the headstock. That MickyD guys 50+ page thread on his SS was EPIC for me to look through. Yes, the Miter gauge, that's what is bent, the blades are fairly sharp; I should take a file to it. I'm using my POS ryobi 18V tools to try and make the roller since the SS isn't really serviceable yet. I'm going to put aside some time and go through the Sawdust Sessions. I will also look into turning since I have never done it in my life. High School shop teacher wouldn't let us near the lathe. So I am completely dumbfounded by lathe lingo. Sorry about that.

PS since it came with 2 "Greenie" parts, does anyone want them? Serial Plate/ Headstock Cover and a tube end thingy.

The rod that goes into the groove in the table is bent. It rocks left and right then up and down. The lock for table height is missing. I think the arbor is wrong, it doesn't look the ones for sale. The arbor also doesn't seem to mate with the dust collector.

Trying to interpret:

I suspect the bent rod is the "miter bar". If that is bent, your best bet is a new one.

You will definitely need the Table Height Lock to be working. A purchase from somewhere will be necessary.

There are several different arbors.

You got me on this one. Arbor in no way equates (in my feeble mind) to Dust Collector.

I'll wait for pictures.

I'm guessing his 'arbor' is our 'lower guard'.

I also wonder if the 'bent' bar is actually the gauge set off 90!

I also shudder to think how he determined the 'bent bar' prevented a 'square cut' with no table height lock.!

He needs a 'mentor' badly I fear!
