I have seen where you use a 5 gallon bucket with lid as a pre filter station for a shop vac or a 35 gallon drum for a dust collection system. Using the flex tubes coming in the top on one side and out on the other, it makes for a great catch basin for the majority of the dust while keeping your machine bin cleaner.

If you are trying to go cheap this is an easy way to create a dust collector. You just need a motor to power it which maybe you can find a used shop vac at a garage sale. I have seen them go for as low as 5 dollars. Even if it is a crappier shop vac, if you use the prefilter bucket to catch the dust, the motor won't have to work as hard with the filter clogging up and it may last a while.
