The train in that Hands On magazine is one of Norm Marshall's designs and the plans also can be found in his "The Great All-American Wooden Toy Book." You might be able to find the book at a local library or thourgh their inter-Library loan program. They're both copyrighted.

Thanks for the information on the plans pennview. I will have to see if my local library has it.

My senior project (1982 ) was a stereo cabinet w/basic joinery.

I seem to be fairly good at coming up with changes on the fly which helped me complete the project. I like designing in my head and then making it happen. Hopefully, I will tackle another train sometime now that I have a shop to work in again

Thanks for the link. I made the train in 2003. It hasn't been long enough since I made it to tackle another. Maybe in 2013

although these do look a little simpler.

Awesome project, about those close ups...I'd like to see more details when you find the time.
I must have went to a lame school, I don't recall having a woodshop in high school..but in jr high I made a bench press:D

Forget aboul all that, funny me, I did not know how this worked and all that time they (the plans ) were in my private messages section ...
sorry about that and thanks to all of you for understanding my french ... sometimes it take times to get how everything works on a forum and this is the only one I belong to and I feel so good because of it.

That is an unbelievable piece of art and craftsmanship especially if a 'teen' done it!;)

I congratulate you on your quite unusual(and correct) attitude and work ethic and attention to detail. Truly remarkable!!!!!
