I'm 6'1", and have used a couple things to raise my SS. As long as you're not turning something large that causes bounce, you could use a couple pieces of 4x4 or larger to give a few extra inches, just make sure the casters are retracted. I currently have mine on a 2x4 platform with casters temporarily, probably about 5" raise.cmccarter1 wrote:Have any of you taller turners raised you shopsmith up to a workable height? If so what did you use and is it stable?

My permanent goal is to build some sort of permanent cabinet that will eliminate the current legs and raise the SS by around 6-8" (plus give a good amount of cabinet space); not sure if I'll go with 80/20 extrusion or plywood. Haven't figured out options to mount the end bases yet, but appears doable enough.
Good luck,
