Key question - Did you get the base also? The part the bench tubes mount/pivot on.
Good news, the infamous melting plastic cam appears in good condition. I believe the follower has separated from the control sheave and that rendered it inoperative.

He has the base, its in the lower right background of one of the photos.

I went back and discovered that after noticing what appears to be a cover in one of the other pix.
Question is, why is the control cam not on its shaft, and can it be put back on.

Yes base doesn't appear to be to bad but will need to paint also

Looks like the camfollower is still attached to the control sheave 'snout' bearing(good news).
Send me an e-mail and I will reply with a Mark VII parts manual in pdf form.

your cam looks workable, but is damaged from what I can tell.

Took a few more pics after I cleaned the dirt off
Nothing is cracked but I can see where it is worn some what flat in one area
and a small piece is gone from the edge

The problem is that missing chip on the side, which could easily cause the follower to bind/buck/shatter. Since the follower is hooked up to a bearing on the sheeve, if the bearing goes bad then it puts a huge ammount of stress on the plastic cam.
As I said, you might be able to get by, but its unclear for how long without a fix or replacement. You might be able to fix it by putting some very thin material around the inside/outside (perhaps aluminum from a beverage can) and then filling in the chipped part.

Ok I'll keep looking for a replacement and maybe I can find one by the time I get everything checked,cleaned and painted
What would the good price be on this cam if I can find one ?

I watched one on Ebay a while back and when it went over $30 I quit and I think it went for somewhere in the $50's I was going to keep it as a spare if I needed it later. Have not seen very many and they are far between. I do know someone had one made from metal but I don't think it is offered as product for sale anywhere.
