Is it that there are NO serviceable parts in the PowerPro OR Shopsmith has not yet begun to sell PowerPro unique serviceable parts?

In a pre-PowerPro Shopsmith headstock everything was user serviceable (you were not dependent on Shopsmith existing), lots of parts available even after 50 years. With a PowerPro if something goes wrong with the electronics or motor you are completely dependent on Shopsmith for service.

We are still dependent on ss for unique parts(except for getting used ones on e-bay, but there is not 50+ years accumulation of new power pro parts).

Valid enough to be concerned re 'electronic' parts reliability and condition of any future used ones.

I would believe if the current Shopsmith company was to fold, the PowerPro supplier "Teknatool" should be able to supply future parts for the PowerPro. I would believe the Nova DVR wood lathe parts could be fitted/modified for the PowerPro headstock if the PowerPro parts were not available any where.

Past discussions with Teknatool customer service people leads me to believe that they would be offering several different HP ratings for the DVR motor and a separate DVR motor controller box for the US market soon.

Therefore when the Nova Repair Center offers repairs and service in the US, then they should be able to service and repair the PowerPro only if Shopsmith no longer exists.

I am sure some day someone will disassembly the PowerPro code and trace the hardware for schmetic drawings.

Which is why I upgraded my shorty powerhead with the PowerPro upgrade and retained my 510 powerhead unmodified in the event my PowerPro fails and requires repairing by SS. I think it would be a wise investment to maintain a backup powerhead as a standby unit just in case. I have a feeling just about everyone here has at least 1 backup powerhead waiting in the wings if it's service is required

Well, if and when you upgrade to the PowerPro, you will have a backup if you don't trade it in or do a DIY.

Only a casting, quill feed and clamp would be 'missing'!

FWIW I have backups for the induction motor version(s).

Yes when the 'day' comes. the 'original' headstock shall become a 'backup'(separate casting, quill feed, and clamp are waiting!).
