If the set is designed like the ss one(left/right outer blades), reversing them would lead to rough cutting at the edges.

I hesitate to ask this but did you put the correct cutting blades on the proper sides? One is to go on the left cutting side, then your chippers and then the right cutting blade. If you had them assembled in the wrong order that would account for some nasty chipout.

You bet! I was very upset because I had not used that set very much and the feed rate was slow and seemed to be fighting me for some reason! I think I turned red in embarrassment when I discovered what i did, and there was no one else around. Dumb mistake. :p
