Good Idea Gary, but you would have to sand the cylinder before applying finish. I think the color would be different on the relatively rough surface left by turning. Although I think my tools are sharp, they aren't sharp enough to produce a sanded surface.

Good point, Chuck, sometimes I don't think these things all the way through. Although sanding on the lathe goes so quick anyway I'll probably still try it.

The sanding disk holder is neet, not sure I'll make one, but it is interesting.

The tissue box is also really a nice use for that wood.
