Rethinking shop design

I bought a model 610 Shop-vac probably over 20 years ago and have put a zillion hours on it. I have used it countless times over the years to suck the wheat, soybeans or grass seed out of grain drills when I finished planting. It has a stainless steel tank and with the big wheels it is easy to pull across a barn lot etc. I bought it for $129 from one of my wholesalers and it has been one of my best buys. I ran it last night for about a half hour vacuuming the woodshop floor and it got a lot of dirt out of the porous surface of the concrete all without stirring a bunch of dust into the air. I sat it up with about 26 feet of hose so I could sit in the middle and reach everywhere but sadly all I had was a 10" floor brush. I need to pickup about a 14" one to speed things up. It amazes me that this old friend runs as quiet now as it did when I bought it. I also sucked a lot of crud out of the windows and sucked in about 100 pounds of cobwebs.

I did not equip with Shopsmiths in spite of the setups but because of them.
