This Thanksgiving is especially meaningful at our house. First my wife's sister is bouncing back quickly from a major cancer surgery. This week I manage to make contact with a long lost sister. We enjoyed a terrific family gathering at our daughters home on Thursday, another family meal last night and are hosting eleven family members here for a traditional Turkey meal today. We also have my brother and his tribe here learning about the workshop. Our granddaughter and I turned two pepper grinders over the last two days. Oh how she loves the shop. This morning she has helped make pies, dress and begin baking the turkey and I have no idea what she is preparing now. For an eleven year old this kid is a whiz at living large. Yes I am thankful and it is my prayer all others are enjoying the season of thanks. Fjimp

Everyday brings something for which to be thankful. When I'm feeling like I'm the only one being punished, go by a cemetery, a hospital, nursing home or medical clinic and my whole outlook changes. Learned from my grandpa as he gave thanks to God each morning that he could wake up, get out of bed and get dressed and that he was kept safely through the night.

Senior discounts are different at different stores and vendors. Some start at 55, others at 60 and still others at 65. But, I still ask and sometimes show my VA card and AARP card. On my retirement, I'm thankful for any discount.

I love it and I agree. A couple of years ago we were out with our daughter and her friend for dinner. I was picking up the check and asked for my senior discount. The friend was greatly insulted, he is totally convinced he in his mid thirties is the one who has earned and deserves the discounts:rolleyes: Fjimp
