Well I did send a pm for it and if I am the one that gets it, I have a guy that has machined a few gun parts for me that I will be sending it to to make some out of aluminum. I'm sure there are ppl out there that would rather have a more durable one.

I realize I am being an obnoxious righteous PITA, but this ain't Your thread!
Guess who I think the 'right' recipient is!;)

Sorry I didnt realize it needed to be MY thread. I thought Damagi was offering parts to who ever needs them.

Please disregard my request for the speed control cam and offer it to the original post (mistake on my part, sorry)

Understood!
I was quite harsh.
The natural logic here is to think he was offering it to the original requester.
This forum depends upon each others respect.
I am sorry if my heartfelt reaction(negative) to a second needy person jumping in in what I consider an untimely manner resulted in an emotional post.
I would have prefixed yer post with the words "If xxx does not reply, I .....".
Maybe you did in the pm, but I have no visibility to that.
Last but not least I also posted it as a nudge to the 'offerer' to consider pecking order, not time sequence.
PBWY:)
Kudos

Good Man! You posted while I was posting the one above.
IMHO That was an honorable thing!
P.S. I think you deserve dibs on the next 'offer' if it surfaces here!

I totally understand and no offence taken here. I'm used to the gun forums that I also visit and when something is offered it's always the "time stamp". I did pm the offerer and asked that he offer the item to the original poster.

Of course if gchapman isn't in a hurry, he may be willing to loan it to hdoilcan to have some copies made. hdoilcan could then send the original and one of the aluminum copies to gchapman for his trouble/patience.
As has been said, I'm sure several others will show up in line for the aluminum copies if gchapman reports back that it is installed and working well.
Could be a win all the way around - I have seen it work well on an antique hit and miss engine forum.
Preventing MVII cam melt

Lesson here folks(MVII type).
If you do not want to endure the same anguish, keep that itty bitty bearing in the end on the control sheave(with the cam follower attached) happy and cool with much lubrication.
I think Bill Mayo's suggestion to pour it to the sheave, tilt to vertical and leave it up as long as possible is prudent especially for the MVII. That allows the oil to migrate/seep/leak/whatever into that shielded bearing and prevent it from warming the follower to the melting point of the cam..

I have a perfect cam that I would be willing to send to if he thinks his machinist can/will make some up. I already tried to get a machinist to make both the cam and the quadrant for me but it just never happened and then his shop collapsed from excessive snow load. He said he was still willing to make it but I am not holding my breath any longer as I am not very optimistic about him ever doing it. I found it exceedingly difficult in my area to find a machinist to make anything for me. They all were production minded and none were willing to even consider doing a small one off job for anybody. It is unfortunate because I have heard other guys talk about having machine shops where they live who are more than willing to do anything anybody asks. PM me if you would like me to loan you my perfect cam for design and manufacturing.
