Jim,

I made my Bosch purchase based on the reviews rating in #1 at the time. So it has been at the top of the charts for a while. Still, I disliked it enough that I only used it as a last resort.

520 PPro (original 500 bought new in 1984 and upgrade along the way).

Jack I remember becoming angry and putting it away for over a year. After our move I met a guy at Tool King here in town. He was raving about the tool. When I mentioned why I didn't like it he smiled and offered one of those; been there and done that remarks, then explained that if one uses a wrench to tighten the arbor it works like magic. I have followed that advice and become a fan of the tool. I used it extensively on the custom sewing machine cabinet for my lovely wife. I only experienced one miscue. Which was when I was pushing the energy envelope and screwed up. My error set me back a few hours but created no lasting issue. Please do not feel attacked by my pleasure from enjoying the tool. I fully realize we each have our own fav's. Jim

Finally decided on this. The result was not what i expected..
The Dewalt plunge was what i wanted. Budget constraints, and the little bigger size eliminated it.
My old buddy was at The Depot today. So, got to quiz him over this.

He said the Rigid has burned a few motors out.

Now, he said the problem with the Bosch is users dont get it
locked properly. I really wanted the Bosch because of its weight
and smaller size.

will attach picture to show locked and unlocked position.

on the right side of router is a locked padalock and unlocked symbol.
on the lower casting is an arrow. have to make sure that it is turned to lock
posistion before closing the clamp.

he said a lot of people do not do this and then the threads are not engaged
at all, and fill up with sawdust.[ATTACH]15804[/ATTACH] thus when cutting it can slip and make a mess.

so, i bought the Bosch $109.00 .. variable speed, with edge guide, and storage case. take off 10% veterans deal.......... will see how it works and let you all know

No offense taken. I did accidently stumble upon the whole "lock/unlock thingy" and it worked OK after that but I just couldn't get use to the mechinasions needed to adjust it. My DeWalt is very easyto adjust AND it has the plunge base which is very handy.

I have had my eye on the Colt for a while. I bought the Bosch 1617 EVPK kit from a guy used for $99.00 and it is the best damn router I could of asked for and it came with a ton of accessories right out of the box. I am a big fan of the Bosch tools. I have a Bosch jigsaw and i just bought an 18V. two drill kit that contained an impact driver and a drill/driver and these have just blown me away with their performance. I had been using a Ryobi 18V. drill for years and it performed pretty well but the batteries never seemed to last very long and took forever to charge even the new ones. This new Bosch dril/driver charges in about 15-20 minutes and seems to hold that charge for quite a while. It has power to spare as well. The impact driver has come in pretty handy as well. Never knew what i was missing not having an impact driver pretty neat idea.
