I like the box also! had to admire the three humgous fingered box joints. Hey! That gives a nifty look!

My wife now wanted one of her own -- for trash! Here's what I turned out in a fairly quick job;

With several talks lately on nice Bevel gages, I remembered that I almost cornered the market on the old MITE-R-GAGE from Shopsmith. I have two of them, anyway!

I have started on another scrap-bin scrap-bin...

The project uses 7 degree cuts almost everywhere:

The first stages of assembly. The lid and access strategy will get some more refinement. This is inspired by some ancient Viking chests. I also used "wrought nails", pre-drilling so they didn't split everything up:

Truly funny! Thanks for the laugh! And, by the way, nice looking bin.

Now I have selected a division of panels to help work a lid and an adequate access to the interior:

The 'Viking Chest' scrap-bin scrap-bin is not quite done,
AND a distraction has arrived:
A value-priced, woodworking / musical project for coming weeks!

I forced myself to concentrate on the first project :)

The Horizontal Boring feature was perfect for making handle-holes, although I did have to turn the workpiece upside down to do so. Then I attached the piano-hinge and rustic cherry lid on top of the pine box. It's basically done besides the finishing. I don't really need it, but that's not the point :)

I really like it! I've never seen a design like that where the ends have that notch to support the front and back boards! In a slightly larger version, this would make a great toy chest.

Also looking forward to seeing the musical instrument project.
