When my son and I got there I realized that the Shopsmith and accessories were worth at least $300 more than my winning bid of $700, so I gave her $1000. It was still a fair and good deal.

She was recently widowed, and I had even briefly met her husband a year or so earlier at one of Shopsmith's last traveling academies.
Yes Sir and you are a class act. Then again I have believed that for a long time. Jim

At that point they could have used a standard 7 1/4in circular saw blank.

Dave
Way back then, circular hand saws(skilsaw) were not 7 1/4". That came later!

Remember the 10e/er was 8"!

Yes, the old CHS's were commonly 6.5" blades.
8" blades were pretty standard on bench model table saws made for home shop use...

According to a few messages I received that were not posted on the open forum, it seems some members were under the impression that the Shopsmith items my friend paid for where obtained under less than honorable circumstances.

Rather than try to defend my friend's and my own character/honor, I chose to remove what I posted.

I read all of your online posts to this thread before they were deleted and I do not feel that you did anything inappropriate.

I can site several instances in my own life where transactions similar to what you described had transpired. What transpired was orchestrated by the other participant in this transaction and not by you or your friend. Yes, your friend benefited but that does not reflect negatively upon either you or your friend. If it had not been you - it would have been someone else.
