Better outlets will have two springs on each outlet plug. This keeps the plug in tight and keeps arcing from happening. I have had to replace a whole house worth of these cheep plugs. Not a fun deal. Use the better outlets if you can. Also if you use 12-2 wiring you can have 20 amp circuits.
A must for a Shopsmith & wood machinery.
Twenty amp circuits with 12/2 wiring: Good to have and highly recommended by some users but NOT a must. A properly operating and properly cared for Mark 5/V will operate safely on a 15 amp circuit wired with 14/2.

I used 12-2 wiring and 20amp breakers on my shop. Loving it so far. When I used my air compressor plugged in to an external outlet on the house, it bogged down and if I didn't shut it off fast enough would trip a breaker. No problems like that at all in the shop.
