Furniture made in the USA

Great story, even with MSN editing. We certainly need to start thinking America first. In California restarting a furnature business would probably be impossible. Air Pollution control has forced most paint and finishing plants out of the state. Dust pollution has move most woodworking operations out of state. I am truly glad this company was able to restart in the USA, but sadly they would probably not be able to start here.

Sampler ???

The reason I said "Sampler" is there is an independent solid cherry furniture maker called "The Sampler" located about 10 - 12 miles east of me in the little village of Homer IN. They had several outlets around and I suppose still do. One was in Metamora IN (small tourist location, little tiny tourist ) and I think they had one in Nashville IN (another tourist location, bigger tourist )

Very likely they had something to do with our furniture, then. The retailer in Nashville was a little non-specific but assured us the stuff was made in Indiana.

Well I hope that trend continues, because there are too many people not able to work in the USA and in Canada as well.
But it is not as simple as it seems, like that furniture company, they have to find people fortunate enough to buy their products. Pieces like that are not cheap but they sure are worth it. They could even be consider an investment.
It is only one side of the coin. I guess you have to believe in it and so does your banker if you find one.

I really enjoyed the positive story and I liked what the man said about his greed and then what he saw happen to the people in his area. We have to realize that our currency is circular. Employed people purchase products and services. Unemployed people don't buy. I also liked his comment about Chinese (no ill intentions here) are about 1/4 as productive as Americans. Wow! That was a shock. Hoping to see more of these stories to boost the morale of our fellow countrymen and maybe buisnesses will start growing our economy as they claim they do. Glad that this man has the heart his daddy instilled in him, make a fine product, but it's "people building furniture". We just need to find the balance.

There are so many ways to clean up the atmosphere from finish vapors and fumes. We've had wet scrubbers around for many decades and not too expensive to build for companies. Not affordable by hobbyists.
