I just posted a question about doing something like this. How was the rail attached to the table? Were there any other mods required to the fence or does it work as is? Does not having any support on other end of fence cause the fence to move from side to side or will it hold true during use.

By mounting the rail to the back side of the table it will no longer interfere with blade changing.

FWIW the original band saw fence was mounted this way with no 'front' clamping.

Hmmmmm! seems I already said that! ;>(

But will it not interfer with the raising of the headstock into drill press mode? It only takes 30 seconds to remove the rail from the front of the table. However, I do defer to your wisdom and experience in these matters:D

Are your mounting tubes straight, or eccentric? If eccentric, mount them so as to increase the spacing.

Will it still interfere? I donno!:o My bs has the larger aluminum table which requires the off set mount.

It also requires hip waders.

Rob, I just drilled two new holes closer to the leading edge so the rail would clear the table and it worked great. I'm just going to let the fence stick out the backside so I can hang my face shield and dust mask on it when I'm using the lathe
