Took an initial cut at taxes Sunday.....Since Susan and I both work and I draw retirement from NM.....Live in TX.....my employer is in NM.....NM has state income tax.....TX, like FL, does not (yeah, TX makes up on sales tax, property tax, auto registration, yadda-yadda-yadda.....)

Looks like we just about break even on the Fed side......gonna have to pay a bit on the NM side......makes my head want to explode:eek:

Short answer: Nope ain't dun yet

Federal is calculated and will result in a tiny refund. State is going to be owed cash due to someone's propensity for out-of-state mail-order products. :o

Have not started yet. Usually have refund back by now, just a little slow this year.

Done?! I thought this was February. Since little or no $ changes hands, there is no chomping at the bit anticipating a 'windfall'.

A whole lotta paper shuffling for naught.:(

Just received the last paperwork needed to file yesterday. So I imagine a couple of evenings this week and some weekend time will get it done. I have no idea about what the outcome will be this year. We made some significant changes to our finances in 2011 - filing should be interesting but probably not pleasant this time.

I have the income taxes thing whipped... Just don't make any money. :)
The property tax thing on the other hand gets just silly. When my wife and I got married in 1963 my yearly gross income was a good bit less than I now shell out for property taxes each year and was less than that for several years. Fortunately they let me pay farm land values but they would really like to charge me the "development" value since I sit next to the city limits. So far so good but if they ever get to I would have no choice but to sell... Land prices close to town are really absurd. That is OK if you want to sell but I want to just sit here and enjoy the farm. I don't know how long I can fight the city off, they have nothing I want. :(

Both of ours went in the first week of Feb. We don't have to think about that again for another year.:p

I owed this year and wouldn't you know IRS accepted my return in 5 minutes, and debited my account at midnight. Usually they owe me and it takes a a few days to accept my return then two weeks for the refund. I did get my refund from state in about a week this year. I used taxact also.

My federal was direct deposited last week. Used TurboTax and did my own. Don't have to worry about state.

I envy all of you. We are still having issues getting 1099's. We were promised the last of them would arrive today, yeah sure.
