Wow, it is good to know that I can adjust it, but your description sounds pretty daunting.
What is the point of that little barbed hook on the outside of the bearing?
Can I remove that and put a spacing washer in there before replacing that barbed hook to hold it in place?

You have a Mark 5 "Greenie" that precedes the sn listing.

I am not sure what you are referring to by describing it as a 'barbed hook'. It may be the part(s) bill has referring to as u-shaped brackets.

In any event the bearing/eccentric needs to be repositioned(pushed in?).

A pix of the 'hook' and the belt rubbing would be helpful to determine what 'action' to take.
