Ya know, I didn't even think there would be such a small number offered. I'd envisioned Pro headstocks veritably flying out of the wharehouse in monster truckloads! (Who knew they went out in a small convoy of shopping carts.)

I believe that there is no one here on this forum who knows how many units are being built. There have been some assumptions made but we don't KNOW.

We are real good at doing that.

I look at it this way. At least they are being built. Sometimes first is line in not the best place to be. So I hope those of you that get it first can also tell us how great it works and I can look forward to adding one to mine in the future. I really am hoping the rumor of adding this to the MKVll headstock is true that would make my MKVll a great addition to the 510 and 520. Will always keep my two ER's since one is a drill press and the other is one I got from the original owner with all the paperwork and looks new.
Again we will probably never see a picture of the Power Pro lined up like the picture we have seen of the ER in the past but at least they are in production.
ShopSmith is still alive and producing.

My first post using my new droid phone.
Today I read something that makes me question how compatible the PowerPro is with the planer. To use the planer you first plug the Shopsmith into the planer & use the planer to control the power to the headstock. The powerpro does not come back on when power is removed then reapplied (a valid safety feature) but this seems incompatible or at best awkward in use with the planer.

Interesting comments. I see the polls numbers and read someone said 20 units. Well, perhaps that isn't right. I am a retired serviceman which really has nothing to do with anything except I believe in loyalty. The free market system is something that rewards companies that sell products customers want while making a profit. Well, I have invested a lot in this company and I have waited a very long time for the release of this product. I know I could wait and perhaps purchase the Power Pro at a future time, but times are tough. Some years ago I got in my car with my dog & we drove all night long to Dayton. I had purchased a scroll saw on Ebay from someone not far from Dayton. The seller told me to stop by the Shopsmith Retail Store for some things I was looking for. You can imagine my surprise when I arrived & learned the store had closed years ago.

But I let myself in the side employee's door & found the men's room. I was immediately greeted by one of the Customer Service ladies- when I came out. I explained what I was looking for and I was greeted Nick Engler whom I had only seen a couple of times of the Saw Dust sessions. For the next couple of hours or so it seemed, Nick Engler shared his time with me. He gave me a lesson on the strip sander, helped me find a leather strip sander belt, and then gave me a tour of the factory. I not only got a tour, but I also got a history lesson and learned more about Shopsmith than I could in any book. Try to do that any any other manufacturer's factory.

I bought a strip sander and belts. I met many of the employees. I have remained loyal to Shopsmith since and have spent more money than a certain special someone will ever know... I honestly don't know if they missed the boat with respect to the difficult times we have all been dealing with. But as far as I'm concerned, it's a win-win.

Today, received a email flyer for the PowerPro. But, after reading the comments about the jointer/planer compatibility with the new PowerPro, I may have to re-consider.
