Ignoring obvious deficiencies is not positive, nor is mentioning them negative.

Simply telling it as it is.

Why do we do so? An open admission of our desire for more a favorable reality.

Any hope of creating that alternate reality? Not likely, but there is hope the walls have ears.

Realize 'we' are not part of the solution(NEW owners are).

We also have remembrance of the past that was more desirable, but not realistic today.

When was the last time you visited a real hardware store that sells hardware(nuts bolts hinges tools....) rather than big ticket items taking up the floor space.

Times HAVE changed. I hope Nick has a reasonable path taking SS down the road.

What bothers me is how $950,000 covers all of SS assets.

I think the previous owners made out well selling their used Shopsmith company for that price. And the new owners did well compared to the typical price of a brand new Shopsmith company

Thanks JPG. Insightful. I was trying to state that a 15% loan interest rate for a low risk hobby woodworker is unreasonable. Unfortunately I did so with flair and ruffled more feathers than I should have. Apologies to those who I offended. I sincerely hope Shopsmith can succeed and will try to keep my worries, concerns for their business to myself. Voicing them, in hopes of altering reality, is causing too much drama on the forum.

As a follow up to the earlier discussion of parts/accessories price increases... I noticed in the recent sale ad that the Speed Reducer, which I had some interest in getting, is on sale for $449, regular $499. On May 31,2023 it went on sale for $338.02 and regular price was listed as $422.53. For the sale price in particular, that is a significant increase.

Thanks. Wow, that is a 33% increase in only 6 months. All I can say is that seems unreasonable to me. I can't say more because it would be deemed too negative here.

I see that as "a real opportunity missed". A speed reducer listed for $422 that could have been purchased for $338; a 20% savings ($84). I don't see a 30% increase in price comparing $449 with $422. I guess it is all in how you look at it.
