I didn't spray a finish on these. I want to sell them, and because they're not perfect I'll sell them cheaper. If someone wants to buy them and have a finish, I'll do it then. I have some folding chairs that I made that have a clear finish sprayed on them, but no pics. I'll take some tonight I guess. They look much nicer with a clear finish.
hehe :) and the lounge chair is for me. I like to sleep outside but not on the ground ;)

My tools are all packed up right now until I get a new workshop and I've been going through some serious sawdust withdrawal. So I jumped on the opportunity to use another guy's shop one Saturday to turn out this piece:

Image

Although he has a couple of Shopsmiths packed away on some other property he owns, no Shopsmiths were used in the construction of this. I used his planer, scroll saw, drill press, and router. Wood is red cedar. Finish is spray on lacquer. The kid in the picture was cut out from an ad in a magazine.

This became my gift for our office Christmas party. We play the "Dirty Santa" game where you can steal other people's gifts. This was quite loved and was stolen a few times. It was a simple little project, but I must say the picture doesn't really do it justice.

Here is a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law. I had helped him restore a Mark V and a Bandsaw in the spring of 2009. He's a busier guy with family than I am; he has just lately made me a desk set. He did a very nice finishing job on the walnut (sorry the photo isn't great):

Finally got this gavel complete(Due Monday!)

The handles are 'featured' on the thread where I had requested 'assistance' orienting the 4 different species of the handle.
African Blackwood(two pen blanks glued end to end), Aspen, White Oak, and Black Walnut. The different species are representative of the officers of the 'organization'.

Last year I made two gavels for use by two of those officers. This year I made one for one of those officers who really enjoyed using it this past year. Since he has 'moved up' in rank, and last years gavels stay with the 'office', I decided to make him a 'personal' one.

It was originally to be an inch larger in diameter and longer(the head), but a slip of the skew tore out a very deep chunk.

The head was made from a piece of the same fished out of the river log that last years pair was made from(very dry).

The next post displays the 'head'!
