I think you hit it Ron. The table insert is pretty unique and the fence looks like the one in the following picture (bootlegged from songofthegreatlakes.com.):

What I can't figure out is how they attached the trunnion to the underside of the table. I looked at the underside of my table and didn't see any trunnion mounting holes. I wonder if it has a modified dog bone, and (even though it has a 500 carriage) if it has dual locking trunnions ala the 510/520. Here is a picture of my tablesaw:
