Perhaps it is time for some smart young person to do the age survey again. Hmmmm, that criteria left me out. Someone else could tackle the process. Jim

I was pleasantly surprised to see he was lurking TODAY!
His last post was in 2010.
Not a shopsmith owner yet, but actively looking; will turn 50 in September. There was a time when more young people were into woodworking. My first experience was with my grandfather (shopsmith owner), and my father is a pretty good shade tree carpenter, me I am about average. I was then exposed to woodworking in Junior High and High School. I do not know if many schools even offer shop classes anymore with all the budget cuts etc. Less exposure to the hobby means fewer young people who do not get to experience the pride and joy of physically creating something from a block or stack of wood. Even now, when some of my projects do not turn out perfect, I can say "you know, I did not buy that at Wal-mart or Lowe's, I built that."burkhome wrote:What do you think the average age of the Shopsmith owner is?

Twenty Four! Had one for over 2/3 of my 'time' on this rock.ryanbp01 wrote:How about the age when you purchased one? That would have made me 43 at the time.
