The remote has 3 buttons I think:
Up RPM
Down RPM
On/Off

Does the confirm button need to be depressed if the speed was set manually by the operator rather than the internal look up function?

There is a threshold of something like 1350 rpm. If you select a higher speed than that, either by the computer-chart or by using manual arrows, then you'll be asked to Confirm prior to running. So, for instance, a table-saw 3450rpm needs a Confirm every time you start.

I agree with the above: Confirmation is required for all changes.

Yes the confirm button must be depressed every time that you press start and the speed setting is over 1500 RPM. Also the confirm button must be depressed every time that start is depressed regardless of speed setting when set to reverse. The 1500 RPM speed setting is very tight. 1500 is go and 1501 is no go unless confirmed.

I think the question is if I set the machine to 1,200 RPM and then press increase can I increase all the way to 10K without hitting confirm. I think the answer is yes.

The limitation with the remote would be to start the machine over 1,500 without hitting confirm on the main panel. I don't see that as an issue.

I would get remote start for bandsaw where I really want it, remote stop for everything and the ability to change speeds remotely.

The confirm 'issue' has to do with the lack of that function for the teknatrol remote etc.

Sorta defeats the purpose of a wrist mount remote control to have to also push a main panel button.

Yes using slower spt's might work!

If the machine is running the speed can be increased using the up and down arrows. Once the machine is stopped and then restarted then confirm must be pressed again.

Right - so while remote start wouldn't necessarily work, speed up/down and remote stop would still work...still useful.
