Loud yes, but I typically have ear protection on, so no big deal. The molder did a beautiful job; my error in speed notwithstanding.

I have the sears molder, inherited from my Dad. He had a much higher tolerance for " adventure" than I, and it took a while for me to get some comfort using this. It does work well, but I am always imagining it chucking a blade! I cannot imagine it at any where near 10000 rpm, it bothers me at 3000!:eek: I am glad you are OK, and as for the band saw thing, I have " heard" that can Happen. I also "heard" you can do the same thing with the sanding disk. Of course I "heard" that from the same guy who forgot to tighten the headstock before going vertical, and it was the same guy who sliced an rather accurate 45 degree notch in the miter gauge. He has learned to pay more attention to things like that.
