My question is do you guys who do these great restores actually use the machine after you have finished or do they just sit on display for all to admire.

Mine already has chipped paint and will need a touch up to keep it pretty.
IMHO there is no point in restoring it if you aren't going to use it. The reality is the restoration work will not get you significantly more on the resale of a 50 YO machine. Certainly not enough to cover parts and labor.

I repainted mine because I wanted any scratches and such on it to be made by me.

What is the point in that?:rolleyes:
If that was the 'goal' we would not need to restore motors or speed controls.

Hey, if that is why the machine was rebuilt - more power to them. Whatever floats your boat.

Up and running, with a few changes.
Different headstock, polt V belt, double quill brg,1 1/8 hp motor, a total rebuild on the head stock, new brgs, belts. ready to work can't wait to turn my first bowl on this!!

Gotta admit - Green and Silver looks mighty good also!
Anything but gray!;)
Dark Blue is nice on 'older' stuff!:rolleyes:
