Well, I am getting the 1958 for sure. Picking it up next weekend. Also seriously considering buying the 1980 as well. The 1980 has a bunch of extras with it and I can use some of the extra parts. If the only difference is the drive system and motor, I may just restore the 58 and keep it. Assuming the 80 had a 1-1/2 hp motor, could it be swapped into the '58?
Also, what is the average $$ value of say a basic Mark V Model 500?

The motor is swap-able, but the 80 has the newer drive system why would you want to swap it.
Value varies by supply, demand and knowledge of the seller. Usually the people selling them have no idea of the cost of a new one or the value of the accessories. The large motor started on all units sometime before 1963.
I have never seen a 520 for sale, 510's you see sometimes, 500 are very frequent but no one wants to ship one. So in almost every case you have to live near the person selling the.
I have sold a few parts left over from an upgrade and to my shock I got more than they sell for new (on sale) and the people paid shipping.
