Oh come on!
How about
"OK, well good luck"
"I guess if you are not telling then I'm not telling."
"I guess our information is Confidential at this time."
Perhaps not nasty but more like childish I was trying to be nice.
You can't tell me your secret soo I won't play with you.
When I worked in the corporate world I was often asked similar questions and if I could I gave an answer instead of saying "I'm not telling"
I fully agree the question was badly asked but come on give the guy a break, if you have an opinion offer it if not don't say anything but don't stand there and say I know but I'm not telling.

Hey you Guyyyys
Check the rear cover of the MLCSWoodworking catalog for this past Holyday season. Is that the contraption under consideration? Shopsmith used to market a VERY similar device a few years back. Never went over too big. Probably due to price. A novel idea though.

PS MLCS item #'s 9764 and 9767 if you want to check the website.

I agree with the other respondents when it comes to answering polls. For me there is not enough information to respond. It raised some questions to me when I read this thread. Is the poster doing this on behalf of Shopsmith or a competitor? If it was from Shopsmith, fine, however I'd be more than a little bit reluctant in answering the poll if it was from a competitor. Chalk it up to brand loyalty. Who is/was Strong Tool Design? I had never heard of them before this thread. Why did the Joint-Matic go out of production? Was it because Shopsmith has the better product? I believe if the originator of the poll was more forthcoming at the beginning, the previous comments wouldn't have been made.

I believe that Strong may have been the originator of the Joint Matic and SS bought the manufacturing rights from them.

No, not now! Can't I do the same operations with the Overarm Pin Router? (but I would like to see the RingMaster brought back.)
My bad! went to the Ringmaster site and found I could buy one from tham to fit the Mark V.

I reread my last post and please before anyone takes offense let me say this.
I was trying to express my surprise at some of the things said and in doing so I did a lousy job expressing myself. I never meant to offend anyone, please forgive me.
What I meant was in the past this forum usually rushes to help someone, to answer a question and etc., but in this thread that did not seem to be the case and I sort of wondered aloud why was that?
I'm now seeing some people think by helping in this case may be aiding a competitor of SS. Thought never entered my mind as I would have expected the Admin to remove the thread if indeed that were the case.
I stuck my nose in where I obviously don't know what is going on and all I can say is I'm sorry. I hope everyone else that posted is fully aware of what is going on and thus can justify their responses. I would hate to think suspicion is provoking the responses versus knowledge.

I think the main problem was a post out of the blue from an unknown person that sounded a tiny bit like a message from the daughter of a former Nigerian Treasurer.
I think that is slowly clearing up now.

I have sufficient tools in that particular area. I second that the option omitted, just not interested. Jim

Like Farmer said a post out of the blue from an unknown person says he was
instructed to do this. then you go over to
http://lumberjocks.com/strong/blog/5610 and he posted 1630 days ago with only one response, and he explains himself a lot more than here. Sorry but my "crap detector went off".
