Posts like this one I believe are put there to make money. I suspect that someone gets paid based on the number of times this site is visited. In other words, I just contributed to this spammers welfare and so did you if you looked.
There is apparently no harm being done but it can be aggravating. Several of the "new members" have posted ads like this but for "self storage" facilities. Actually, they don't post these ads. They simply include a link (website address) in their profile. If you don't go look, you'll never know it has happened. This, no harm done.
Someone, anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

A quick look gave me 397 members who have a www. address in their profile(home page). Not a huge number.
I did look at a few (using cut and paste in a new window) and some were rather interesting, payday loans, rentals, wedding stuff, t-shirts, french lingerie, auto glass, and chiropodist to name a few.
Anyway at this point the numbers are pretty low and a lot look like they belong as personal or business home pages.

By sunrise in Tucson today, the forum will have it 20,000th member (whose member # will be 20044??).
Opps, I am going to miss this one. The sky is turning pink and the count is no where near 20044.

Am I seeing this right. Back in April the forum membership was 20,000 or so and now on May 18th the membership is a grand total of 27,412 at this moment? That's phenomenal. The forum is gaining on the order of 200 members a day.

How many are 'lurking'?
Has the logged on count been affected?
I still be suspicious that spammers account for many that 'go away' after finding out the back doors are closed.
I am assuming they 'go away'.
Wonder what the 'count' would be if those who have not logged on after a year were purged.
227 'new members' added during the 'wee' hours(for us anyway). That is while daylight in
the 'peoples republic'.
P.S. Dusty post time - Beeg post time is closer to 9+ hours.
