I try to purchase my lumber
here but sometimes I just can not afford their inventory. They certainly are not less expensive than the Big Box.

No cull bin at either of the big box stores where I'm at.
I found a local small lumber store I go to for hardwoods since the hardwoods at the big box stores are generally crap and way too expensive.
My only other option is STOCK building supply they cater to contractors and are priced accordingly. So unless you're purchasing in large bulk, it is also rather pricey. They do have high quality items though, but it's still a bit of a big box operation. At least they have Baltic Birch and decent plywood.
No local lumber yards, no local mills that I know of
