I'm sorry the comments were meant in jest, like just reading about it should be pain enough for everyone, then only if you wanted more pain, you could actually buy one....
I fear I must say sorry as I didn't make my message clear, you have nothing to apologize for.

As always, Ed, you are the man!:)
As an after thought, hopefully moiramph will tune in and shed some light on this adapter plate. Maybe we are missing something; if not - they need to know that they are missing something.

Most of my day was consumed by other things I did manage a few moments to have a look at the 24" aluminum miter gauge extension (555429) fit.
The placement of the holes are higher on this then other things that mount on stock shopsmith miter gauge (BTW this is identical to the long arm of the shopsmith miter-pro (555404)).
So this is what it looks like:

As you can see it would take making a spacer to level the screws so it could be used.
Fun thing was I tightened it as pictured for the picture. As I was getting ready to take the picture I bumped it, the extension popped off landing on my foot before crashing to the concrete and denting the AL corner.... No you should never use it with the screws as shown, or even take pictures with it mounted that way.
I also own the 20” Aluminum Miter Gauge Extension (556005) which I've misplaced in the shop somewhere, or, have left with my up-north shopsmith. Either way I don't have it to test with at this point.
At this point I will move on to other more pressing things that need doing and call it a week.
Well I found the 20” Aluminum Miter Gauge Extension (556005). It got under a pile of things and when I got to cleaning up there it was.
This is maybe what the adapter plate was made for/tested with cause it works well together with the extension.
In this first picture you can see that I'm using the outer most slots on the adapter. This allows the mounting to miss the metal bits of the miter gauge, I should point out this is more then likely not the hardware that came with the extension.... To be honest I don't really remember anymore but I do often swap that sort of hardware around.

From the front you can see the extension is sitting on the table and the will work quite fine.

You will need this adapter plate or make your own as the hardware for the safety grip will not allow the extension to mount on the V120. The other option would be to remove the safety grip. Here is a picture to show you how that those parts become an issue.

So there is just a little good news on the adapter.

(this is embarassing, but...)
When I first got the adapter plate I tried putting a couple things on it, and noted the odd fit with the old SS Ext. .
But, the other thing I tried worked perfectly.
Sadly I can't for the life of me remember now what that was. And I haven't used the Miter Express for awhile, so...
If I ever remember what it was or stumble across it again, I'll post it here.
Btw, I know the adapter has a real porpoise, 'cause I haven't thrown it out or into the "lost Cause" bin.
