I see a speed control, and a jointer. The 10-ER is said to be better than Mark V for the mortising attachment (more rigid). I wonder what else may be with it?

It is probably a lot better buy than this one:

The 'Chesire' is the best featurewise of the lot(4e Jointer + speed contro)l. not known on any is the physical condition. The indianapolis is the worst 'deal'(he be dreaming).

However realize the later 'spts' do NOT fit without some 'original' adaptation.

SPT's = special purpose tools (ie. bandsaw, sander, jointer, etc.)

Motor upgrade was in 1962, to the 1 1/8Hp. Then in 2010 with the powerpro.

Understand that the Model 10e, 10er were the 'original' shopsmith models from late 40' to early 50's. Major changes were made with the introduction of the Mark 5. Most accessories currently made will attach to even the early Mark 5's. They were not intended to be used on the Model 10's.(keep in mind yer original inquiry re Model 10's).

The Model 10's are excellent very durable easily maintained machines, but the 'incompatibility' and small motor make a Mark 5 or later Mark V a more attractive choice. The area of spt's is the biggest drawback. Almost all the spt's were initially produced well after the Model 10 ceased production(Mark 5 owners were the intended market).

Later Mark V's are essentially the same as the Mark 5, but the recent table and fence changes are significant improvements(Mark V - 500 - 505 - 510 - 520).
