I have to insist that the SI is indeed moving on the way tubes. A 'still' look at 0:22 and another at 0:23 clearly shows the SI moved about an inch and a half(or more) and is evident both at the quill and the way tube clamps. The earlier wobbling of the cutter has me concerned. I am not familiar with the internals of the SI, but it appears to be a large bevel gear(or maybe rubber tired wheel) at the input shaft driving a smaller bevel gear(or driven wheel/plate) on the spindle shaft.

What could be causing a severe force against the quill shaft is a mystery. What does the coupling between the quill shaft and the SI look like. Could the coupling be causing this? Is a hub placed onto the quill shaft and an internal coupler fitting fixed to the SI input shaft?

I cannot envision anything external to the SI causing this.

My bad! For some reason, (Brain error), I thought you you had a PowerPro and were getting the harmonics from that.

JPG40504, You're right. Not sure how I missed that in live action. Guess I was focused more on that spindle and the safety factor. I've got that way tube clamp on there as tightly as I can turn it by hand and after it moves I still can't budge it manually. Still, what kind of force could push this tightly clamped SI off the quill like that? Wow.

There's a five-groove hub tightened onto the shaft and the SI has a part inside to mate with it. The hub remains tight on the shaft when I take the SI off.

At a complete loss on explaining, much less fixing, this one.

Whatever is 'pushing', it has to be from the internal end of the input shaft. That implies the input shaft can move out towards the quill.

I do not think we will know what is causing this without a look inside.
