Thought so at first. Looking at my diagrams did not confirm that. Perhaps they do match his diagrams.:confused:

Sorry for the stupid question. I was looking at the wrong chart and trying to figure out which column was being referenced.

Yes, that is the item # of the part in the Shopsmith Parts List. Notice that there can be two items with the same number. Example: Jointer item #6 and Mark V Headstock item #6.

Yes and a well prepared chart would have labeled the columns so you did not need to guess.

While the needed set screw is in your chart, it would be nice to have section for arbors and SPT hubs. The saw arbor set screw is different than the sanding disk arbor set screw and I don't know which set screws go into the SPT hubs.

Just a suggestion

In all cases that attach to the quill shaft, the set screw should be near flush with the outer end of the tapped hole when tightened against the quill shaft with the hub against the knurled 'collar'. All should be flat ended. TTWISI;)

Length is the only undeclared characteristic. You have, basically, two choices. You could use either a 3/8" or 1/4" long set screw. You decide, based on how each fits in the device and then look at the chart to determine the part number you want to order from Shopsmith.

I posted this chart in Word with the objective of providing something that could be edited, updated, corrected or changed by the user. Once it is on your computer, it is your chart to do with as you see fit. I hope that is working the way it was intended.

Excellent reference chart, but I will 'continue' to use my own judgement(and ability to measure things). Oh and just use what I have on hand.

What I miss is the detailed description in the manuals of yore!:mad:

And specifications that reveal meaningful details(but I digress:o).
