Great job! Your band saw box came out great. Cool shape and the pretty grains really pop with the finish. Thanks for sharing the step by step process and great photos. They said that it's addicting, looking forward to more of them.

Another suggestion is to use a Sharpie to put on the bottom some brief history, your name and date built. And, of course, "Made in USA".

I don't know how to describe this, it's either "nifty knitting," or, "Typical Fred."

(Oh, "typical Fred" means, I wish I knew someone who could do as well.)

Fred, just keep on sending your work. It will (hopefully) inspire me to "actually use" my ERs, instead of just re-configuring them.

I added handles and felt to my box to complete this my first attempt at band saw jewelry boxes. I'm going to see if I can polish up the finish somewhat using my triple buffers and some wax. Now it's on to my next box, which I will cut out of a block I glued up earlier this week from my pith leftovers.

I glued up a 2 drawer box yesterday and a 4 drawer box today. I also cut some more blocks out of a log I had sitting on the deck. It's green wood so I need to let it dry out before trying to use it.

I glued up 4 pieces of leftover wood into a block which I cut out for a 4 drawer box.

Cut out 4 drawers with two entry points that I have glued back up. I will be cutting out the drawers later today. This box is more conventional.

I had to chisel off the bark to fit the half log on my band saw. I used my 1/2" blade and it cut with ease.

Here are the blocks I managed to get out of the log today. I will be using sealer on the ends and set them aside to dry. Don't have any idea long that will take.

And a four drawer version. Still need to add handles and felt. I haven't decided which type I like the best. I have more ideas that I want try out before sticking with a certain design. Or maybe I will just make as many different designs as I can think of. Each one will present a specific challenge that I will have to overcome as part of the learning process.

What fantastic work you do sir. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
