I am not any type of computer geek! I don't even understand what you guys are talking about most of the time. All I know is I bought a Lenovo twist laptop because they were cheap (relatively) and it has windows 8. I thought it best that I get practiced using Win 8 because it is "The future". Other systems will phase out in few years.

I have no problems with Shopsmith sites and besides it is easier to find other things like Sports, Weather, TV schedules etc, etc.

Chuck, the Thinkpad has gone downhill, since IBM sold out. I buy IBM designed T60 (with the T61, the last IBM designed Thinkpads) and refurbish them. I'm able to get a working product in someone's hands, for about $150, or so, depending on options.

But, I don't do W8. Sorry, W8 will be the next copy of Vista. (And follow 98, before 98SE, CE, ME, and Vista.) W7 is, and has been, working flawlessly, provided you have enough (2GB) of memory.

I had the same problem with Windows 8. My wife's computer has Windows 8 on it. And I ignored it for most of last year because what little time that I spent with it just made me furious. I think it took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to print a pdf one day. But I wanted to get a Surface tablet so I knew that I was going to have to learn it. My wife's computer is not a touch screen and Windows 8 is definitely setup for a touchscreen. But since getting the Surface tablet at Christmas I have become accustomed to using it and it actually has some good things about it. But I do use the desktop screen most of the time because it is what I am used using as my work computers are Windows 7. What is funny is before I got the Surface table and never did figure out how to turn off my wife's laptop. I would just push the main power button until it went off.
