ok, so i've found out how you can do it if you use a mail program (outlook, outlook express, eudora (probably), and thunderbird (probably)). But if you only use webclients, be it for yahoo, hotmail, gmail, or your ISP email account, then you won't be able to just insert the images.
If you do use an email program, then all you'll need to do (tested on outlook as that's what I have installed at work, menus could be different, but the theory is the same) is go to Insert==>Picture==>"From file..." Should set you all up.
If you don't use an email program, sorry, but there doesn't appear to be even a difficult way to insert smilies...
And no worries about it, it's what I do to pay for my habbits. I frequently get requests from some of my co-workers to help me figure something out so they can see an email that was sent to them with pictures/movies of grandkids and the like...

George, I was in the Lathe class on Monday, too. Rick is a super instructor, full of energy, genuine style, and credible delivery. I think I even learned a thing or two...or three, or four...
I was one of those guys at the back table with two pages. Since I inherited a brand new never been used 510, I felt obligated to adorn it with all the goodies I'll need to keep me occupied in retirement. I was spending my, uh, rebate check...haha. Alas, now I can't afford the wood!

Glad to see you on the forum. Welcome! It's nice to know that at least one SS owner/user lives near by.

Wow,
I am so glad I went to Rick's class. Getting the hands on and close up view of a professional like Rick actually doing it was so helpful. My nickname at the class was scraper as that is what I taught my self in turning prior to going to class. After his class I now am ready to practice shearing and using my scew. I would recommend this class to everyone. I really had a wonderful time. Spent more than I should have but I bought what I was able to use at the class so it is a great investement. Thank you Rick Davis. Oh yes his DVD is great. Used the daughters DVD player in the shop an alighned all night last night. LOL

Maybe we've discussed this before but why is there one instructor for Western part of the country and none for the eastern part? Are there more Shopsmith owners out West than in the East? I have some ideas why this is the case, but I would like to have them confirmed.

There were two that got laid off within the last year. I sure wish we had some east coast representation too. I have owned my used 500 for eight years, but I am only just now getting serious about doing anything with it.
