On my Shopsmith table, the average miter slot width was 0.732", SS miter bar 0.725" wide and 16" long. This gives a possible angle variation of 0.025 degrees as long as both ends of the miter bar are in the slot.

The Incra miter gauge is narrower, but the slop can be removed, so I didn't measure it.

My problems are more when the SS miter gauge body shifts on the miter bar cause I did not tighten it enough. Or when I lose control of the wood due to weight and drag. That is one reason I prefer the sliding miter table on my Ryobi BT3001 table saw.

Cool Mike, thanks. 1/40 of one degree. I tighten the miter bar tapered screw so there is virtually no slop in the middle. Not a pinch point, but close. To my eye it reduces angular play even further.

So now the middle is bulged out, so the ends wood still have "slop".:confused:
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Slight is the key term. We are talking about 1/40 of a degree or less, picking particularly small nits IMO.

Could the Micro-Jig Zero Play Guide Bar be used on a Shopsmith miter gauge.

I don't see why not. As long as the Micro-Jig is narrow enough to fit in the miter track, it should work. On the web site, it appears to be a really neat solution.
