got some more pics with some organization of laying out everything I got for the deal...
and this one was after a lil corrosion removal... I'm like a kid... gotta play before cleaning any other messes.

Is it my eyes or is the headstock mounted backwards?

The headstock is not on the Way Tubes backward but the tailstock is in the wrong location (for normal lathe operation) and I would put the extension table where the tailstock is.
It may be there for reasons unknown to us.

as far as how things get mounted, I didn't have my manual handy. I will definitely get things mounted right.

Nope your seeing the handle like in drill press mode, which switches easily from side to side.

I don't see that tail stock dead center, an arbor for the 5/8's hole saw blade, a coupler for STP's and hubs for the STP side of the headstock.

If he does not have any SPTs, he does not need the coupler nor hubs.
A spur drive center would be nice to go with a tail stock center.
FWIW, I always store the chuck key clamped in the jaws of the drill chuck.

A spur drive center wasn't sent to the original purchaser, but a dead center was.

Tis quite possible and advisable to use a dead center in both ends under certain conditions. Do it often.
