It will be a thread someday. But working on it maybe half a day every other weekend, it is taking a loooooooong time. I'll post when the end is in nigh ... until then, details must remain secret.

This is our latest lamp. The base is 18" x 10.5" x 3.5" and is made with fourteen pieces of Walnut. I glued together in groups of three, in order to cut the angles. Then glued into two pairs of six and then those together. The front and back pieces were glued separately. All this was done to try to keep the misalignment to a minimum. I drilled the deep hole with a 3.125" Forstner bit and used a template and router guide to make the 6" hole. The finish is one coat of Watco "Natural" Danish Oil, two coats of wipe-on poly, then sanded with 400, another coat of satin poly and finally a coat of Minwax Special Dark wax applied with 0000 steel wool.
