pinkiewerewolf, no thanks necessary - I did it because I loved it. I retired about 6 months ago after 24 years and still miss it every damned day.
Friskomike, I'd highly recommend the WS3000 or WS200 over a bench grinder for lathe tools, plane blades, and wood chisels. I have a lot of experience with sharpening, including the various scary sharp methods, but the WS gives me a better edge than I've ever gotten by hand and in seconds. Perfect and painless, every time. On the other hand, for some things, such as sharpening lawn mower blades, axes, and mauls, there's no substitute for a good 8" bench grinder - you can usually find a decent one for cheap at a pawn shop or a yard sale. I'll post pictures of my dust collection setup in a day or so, in the meantime the attachment is a picture of the cyclone itself (if I've done the attachment process correctly). I built this entire setup (including ducting) for under $300.
charlese, I made due with a dremel for years and it's a decent tool, but I wish they'd come out with a foot-pedal speed control for it. I still use the dremel flex shaft for certain jobs. It hangs next to the Foredom on the downdraft craving station. And for chainsaw sharpening in the field there's nothing better than a cordless dremel with the chain sharper, I keep one in my chainsaw case.
