I don't know if anyone actually answered this affirmatively. One answer supported it, but it was then questioned as if that was the reason.
I am not a farmer, but my back yard is a farm field. Yes, they do spray roundup when needed to help a field drop it's moisture content. I don't think it is a standard operating procedure, but done when necessary.
Remember that if the moisture content is too high, the farmer either has to dry it in large heaters which costs lots of money to run, or they get deducted when they take it to the elevator.

I know that it has to be used x amount of days before harvest and then is "considered" safe.
